Song of Love

Song Of Love is the highlighted single from Charlie and the Rays' upcoming three-track EP, produced, engineered, and mastered by Kevin Salem in Woodstock, New York. Salem has been nominated one of the “best songwriters of the year” by Rolling Stone Magazine, and is best known for production work with Lenka, Rachael Yamagata, and Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary, among many others. Charlie and the Rays was founded by two sisters and a childhood friend, busking at Pike Place Market in their hometown in the summers of their youth. The band soon grew to five-piece, though this project showcases the original three members with more acoustic arrangements. This civil rights song was composed in light of the current social and political environment in the United States. Recorded with the three band members encircling one mic, they create a raw, genuine feel for the track. Charlie and the Rays draws influence from bands such as Simon and Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac, The Indigo Girls, and Paul McCartney and Wings. The folky, lyrical, harmony-rich style of Song Of Love reflects the energy and political force of socially and musically influential band, Peter, Paul and Mary. It highlights their three-part female harmonies and vocals, acoustic guitar, and sparks of harmonica.
