They stayed together for almost four decades, violinists Norbert Brainin and Siegmund Nissel, Peter Schidlof and Martin Lovett and agined world fame under name "Amadeus Quartet". From 1947 until the death of Peter Schidlof in August 1987 the Amadeus Quartet was one of the most prolific Chamber music ensembles worldwide concentrating mostly on the music of the great classical and romatic era: Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Bruckner and Brahms. Critics worldwide praised the beautiful homogenic sound of the Amadeus Quartet and the passionate intensity of interpretation.
