Steps for Peaces
"Steps for Peace" by Richard Dobeson, a meditative and nostalgic journey through keys into a sonic world of optimism. Everything about this track embodies feelings of hope and peace. Listeners cannot help but lose track of their worldly problems and just get lost in the rich sounds, atmospheric textures and inviting melodies. This track is listed as Ambient and additionally tagged as Fusion, which is a solid description of the sounds to be heard here. The drums are so welcome when they come in. The percussion on the verses are steady, keeping the emphasis on the downbeat, but when the choruses come in the percussion feels more shuffled/syncopated, even if just in contrast to the changing melodic parts, and with plenty of space between attacks. It's a nice balance that paired with the marvelous bass line, keeps the track moving, constant, yet always fresh. The chord structures in this are so rich, from top to bottom. You can tell that a lot of thought was put into each note. The string arrangement is a definite stand out here, as it is well written/mixed and has a way of wrapping itself around you. Once again, the bass line shines in this department. A gentle/solid ground for the rest of the sounds to ride on. Richard Dobeson has heart in spades and "Steps for Peace" is very satisfying evidence of such.
