Verdi: Macbeth (Live)

Verdi's early Shakespeare opera has rarely enjoyed such a perfect performance as here, in the Felsenreitschule in Salzburg. Under the fiery direction of Wolgang Sawallisch, Grace Bumbry's Lady Macbeth was a force of nature and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau portrayed a powerful Macbeth, and both earned tumultuous applause.
