The Wicked Keeper

Sweet n Candy brings a very well rounded EP to DoC. Rico Henshel (aka Sweet n Candy) is another techno veteran who needs little introduction. Rico has released on numerous labels including RaumMusik, Einmal Eins, Dumb Unit, and Opposum; but still makes time to tour all around Europe and North America. The Wicked Keeper EP also features a remix by DoC label boss, Aaron Hedges, and Beaner (who is also soon to release his 2nd record on Rekids Radioslaves label). The title track, the Wicked Keeper, is a remarkably warm and funky techno track. Haunting vocals sprinkle this track and unique fxs and synths accent the minimal groove. Whats is He Talking About? Is a full and funky techno jam. Odd percussion, peak time swells, dirty reverbed fxs, and rich pads round this track out. The Hedges & Beaner remix of Whats is He Talking About? is a stripped down reinterpretation. The energy of the remix is remarkably versatile working at any hour of the evening. Remarkably dark but still warm and inviting this one has been burning up dancefloors across Europe already. Its Yellow is a very pretty song which contains both techno and house elements. You can hear Ricos signature production technique but it is also coupled with a very melancholic synth pad that takes this song in a more expressive and emotive direction. Detroit meets Berlin.
