In 1961 a new era was dawning with John F. Kennedy taking office, it was also the year Brylcreem-coiffed young guns like Dion, Ricky Nelson and Bobby Vee all gave Elvis and Roy a run for their money. The year may have ended on a negative note with the conflict in North Vietnam, but in pop 1961 was definitely another winner.
