Turn to Stone
I'll freely admit I've been in love with Ingrid Michaelson's music since the first time I heard her voice in 2007. Out of thousands of CDs I own, Ingrid's "Girls and Boys" is among my most precious (and most played). That said, with the release of "Be OK," I was concerned that Ingrid would fall into the trap of another of my favorite bands - DMB. That is, everything would start to sound the same. With the release of Turn to Stone, Ingrid gives us a glimpse of what is to come from her upcoming album and puts to rest any fear that Ms. Michaelson is a one trick pony. Turn to Stone is more sophisticated and nuanced than what we've heard before, but it retains that inexplicable quality that made Girls and Boys accessible and personal. Her pure voice still shines through, but is now accompanied by a sweeping chorus of piano, strings, and (who saw this coming?) sax. Five stars. Highly recommended. I can't wait to see Ingrid play her new stuff on this year's Hotel Cafe Tour. Keep up the good work, Ing.(From itunes Customer Review)
