Schellack Schätze: Treasures on 78 RPM from Berlin, Europe and the World, Vol. 41
The 1947 Carnegie Hall Concert of 27th December 1947 is another one from a series of concerts that Duke Ellington and his Orchestra gave from 1943 onward, and again it shows this fabulous band in best form, featuring jazz legends like Johnny Hodges, Oscar Pettiford, Ray Nance, Sunny Greer and many others who all have a place now in the big "Hall of Fame" of Jazz. "The Duke" himself conducting, playing the piano and presenting the music (mostly his own compositions) and his musicians - that's what we hear on this new album. The concert was carefully audio restored and remastered in HD - a "Must Hear" for all friends of the one-and-only "Duke"!
