Bella Candela
The "Bella Candela" EP sees Danny wrestle once again with his darker alter-ego 'Lenny Middles': "I'd been spending a lot of time recording live musicians and instruments for my 'Balaphonic' and 'Well Cut Jazz Workshop' projects, and trying to get organic and gritty drum and percussion sounds for the Powerdance album. I decided to spend some time using some of these sounds but exploring what I could do by twisting them a little and focussing on creating a more intense and darker energy, whilst still referencing a lot of the afro-cuban and brazilian rythms that have always been an influence". The EP kicks off with 'Rantz'. Tough percussion and crowd chants steadily intensify with acidic stabs to a crescendo which builds with a latin influenced montuno piano line and squelching synths and concludes in a very twisted sounding percussive workout complete with a detuned and dubby cowbell overload! More cowbell? Could you stand it? 'Just Ask' sees earthy drums and layered percussion provide a building backdrop for a steadily and ever evolving analogue synth bassline. An ascending chord progression of stabs takes over to delve the track into deeper territory before being driven home by ever more insistent and intense percussion. 'Bella Candela' was inspired by camera footage of a crowd of Bolivian party goers wrestling with a huge, record breaking spliff and a sample of their chatter acts as a bed for a lo slung infectious funky groove to evolve propelled by a multitude of caxixi (Brazilian basket shakers) and polyrhythmic analogue synth notes that weave in and out of the beats to a deep and dubby breakdown... We do hope that you enjoy the release. If you are feeling it any support that you might like to give in terms of chart or social media is always very much appreciated but overall we hope that you might play it loud in a party or club! https://www.facebook.com/wellcutrecords/ https://soundcloud.com/well-cut-records https://wellcutrecords.bandcamp.com/
