Super-Transgressive Contemporary Power Metal! Alchemy is the first major EP release from Ascension - a 5-piece Power Metal band hailing from the North East of Scotland Inspired by the European greats like Helloween, Gamma Ray and Hammerfall, Ascension have brought a revival to guitar-driven power metal; in a world where symphonic keyboards and orchetral impliments have now dominated the genre. In the last couple of years, Ascension have seen great success across the whole of the UK, with such notable appearances such as Scotland's Feugh Fest, and the first ( and last ) Metalfest UK at JB's dudley, with acts such as Blaze Bayley, Vision Divine, and Primal Fear! In 2009, Ascension embarked on their first full UK Tour. Fully financed, promoted and organised by Ascension and Italian Power Metal band, Broken Melody! This tour saw the band's fanbase greatly increased, and the band's Moongate EP sold way beyond expectations for the band as a result. 2010 see's the release of a new EP entitled 'Alchemy' and also the recording of the band's debut album in Sweden with Grammy nominated producer, and King Diamond guitar mastermind Andy Larocque! Ascension's live performances are where the band's talent and passion really shine through, with an unfathomable amount of energy, stage presence, and staggering fret wizardy from lead guitarists Stuart Docherty and Fraser Edwards, Ascension's live shows always captivate the audience from the die hard fans at the front, to casual observers alike.
