The Protection EP

After its stunning debut last month, Protect Audio returns with release number two and another sizeable EP that'll have speaker boxes shaking across the globe. Packed with four new tracks from the freshest crop of talent it's a serious package that takes no prisoners whatsoever, dropping a little something for everyone from the deepness to the heinous tearouts. Congress starts the ball rolling with the back street vibes of 'Sinister' which as the names suggests is a twisted, dark road into a proper piece of stepping drum & bass to warm up the floor. It's left up to Mono to drop the bomb and with 'Torches' and he manages it in spades. Massive overload warping reece bass is key as thundering fx and pads max out it out for an absolute belter that just rolls and rolls. 'Slivers' by Seattle's Homemade Weapons opens with blissful atmospherics as the click track gets things moving and sets the pace of what's to come. On the drop we're treated to some rather tasty intricate production that will have some early Rockwell fans in a frenzy as HW proceeds to the rinse the tech-bass groove to rule the rafters. Finally Marukomu returns with the old-school inflicted sci-fi vibes of 'Umbra', showing once again his roots with heavily edited amens on this ever-changing slice of retro drum & bass for 2012. An absolute must for fans of vintage Source Direct, Doc Scott, Photek and the rest.
