CHAPTER 7
Icon was raised in Hawaii but relocated after receiving a full scholarship to a prominent acting conservatory in New York City. "It was krazy” he remembers " I would spend all day studying Shakespeare then jump on the six train and flow all night in the Bronx." After finishing with the conservatory Icon went on to do many Broadway and Off-Broadway plays. Most Notably as "Oberon" in L.I. Shakespeare Festival as well as “American Kig Umps” at the Harlem Theatre, which, was nominated for an Audelco Award, and "The Night Word” which was a high light of the fringe festival. He has also guest starred on some of TV's hottest shows such as "Sopranos" and "CSI Miami". As if things weren’t poppin’ enough. He still found time to drop two of the most prolific underground Hip Hop albums to hit New York in a long time. Icons Group, "Apostles" are responsible for "The Dead Zone" and "Apostelyptic." Albums that have become almost legendary to heads around the Bronx who love to analyze their scripture like rhymes. Surprisingly, The same thing is starting to happen in Detroit, Philly, Denver and Los Angeles. And believe it or not Australia. This next Australian Tour will be the Apostles third time down under. This time they're going with Naughty by Nature, Dead Prez and P.O.W. Icon's solo project, "Chapter 7" is due to hit web in early January of next year. With it’s genre bending production it’s likely to be labeled alternative Hip Hop. “Burn Tha Bush” for example effortlessly blends hardcore metal rap with roots reggae. "It's a growth" says Icon in the hotel room after an Apostles set at the South Park Music festival. "This group is supporting me as I explore new things and pushing for me to do my best work....and I’m confident that it is!"
