No Mercy
Joe Swan's first window to music was at 10 years old when he played with a set of unattended turntables. His adolescent mix of Ashanti's 'Only You' over the beat of 'This Is How We Do It' caught the attention of the room. It was not long before he decided to look deeper into music. After a set of verses he jotted down to the beat of “Big Things Popping” was mistaken by his mother for a set of lyrics from a radio song, Joe immediately was inspired enough to go out and by a computer and a USB microphone. He spent some time honing his musical skills by doing remixes to songs he enjoyed like “Random” by Drake and Lil Wayne. About a year later Joe moved to Mechanicsburg and received an opportunity to record at a professional studio. He posted the track and was lucky enough to receive a warm reception. This encouraged Joe and some friends to start a rap group that they called “Hidden Society.” They were able to get a demo recorded but unfortunately the group had to go their separate ways before they had the opportunity to release it. At this point Joe decided it was time to make a go of it on his own. He adopted the stage name ICON and really dove into creating his own music. He did some beat making and some recording on his own through his first two years of college. In 2014, ICON connected with Remember to Breathe Productions and together they started taking steps to take his career and talent to the next level. They immediately began recording an EP as well as a series of remixes that will soon be released as YouTube music videos to expand his fan base. In between performing at places like Club Illusions in Greenville, PA and Bobby's Place in Erie, PA; ICON is currently working on a MixTape that he will be releasing for free online in June of 2015. So what's on the horizon for ICON? Well you better believe that the Mad Or Naw Hip Hop Artist is not going to let up anytime soon. This June and July he will be touring through the Sunshine State till his 'Wrist is a Chandelier' on the “Beaches and Beats Tour.” Seeing nowhere else that could handle the release Tour of his debut EP, No Mercy, ICON is setting course for Daytona Beach, FL. Leaving his haters M.I.A. back in Pennsylvania he will be open for stops in Tampa Bay, Orlando, Jacksonville and Miami. So keep your ears and eyes open for this rising star and be sure to check out his EP, “No Mercy” on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play and more on June 22nd, 2015!
