This album was built on the ashes of bands and relationships both with girls and friends. I can recall the night before I entered the studio; I was left in a empty house. It was my last couple of nights before I was forced to move back to my hometown. This was the moment that right-angled the rest of my life. Going from taking things lying down to ultimately taking the wheel for the rest of my life. Even now as I write this, I still struggle with the ability to keep that wheel straight. It seems the walls and roads crumble beneath me. Do I continue in the path I've been following? Or do I turn to something more simple? I think back on that moment, sitting in the dark empty hallways, hearing the cracks and creaks of that house. I remember that thought that changed my life forever: it was the purest thought I've ever had, it was so clear. How am I to abandon that? I cannot. These songs not only reflect on all these thoughts and relationships from the past, but also represent the simple beginnings of what is to come next.
