Waiting to Begin
Chris & Jenna write indie-pop songs about the broken world we live in and the beauty they find in it. They are using their life and music to speak for justice and speak up in the thick of a culture that constantly markets what is worthy, what is important, what is true. Influenced by artists like Sara Bareilles, Gungor, and The Swell Season, "Waiting to Begin" is the duo's sophomore album. Since the release of their first album, the duo have jumped into the adventure of marriage, which shows in their new record. Two distinct musical styles - Chris hailing from punk rock roots, Jenna from folk, jazz and blues - have come together to pen unified pop-rock tunes that use each of their vocal and writing approaches to strengthen the other. The album travels from enthusiastic uptempo harmonies to introspective, longing melodies. Mixed by Shane D. Wilson (Switchfoot, Chris Tomlin, Tenth Avenue North) and mastered by Matthew Odmark (Jars of Clay, JJ Heller, Sarah Masen), the record was cut with Geoff D. of Equilateral Services in Port St. Lucie, FL. "Chris and Jenna's infectious melodies could afford them lesser lyricism, but they take no shortcuts. There is a rare honesty and depth in both their songs and performances that should not be missed." - Adrian Mathenia, sound engineer and singer-songwriter “To be honest, I complain about Christian music a lot. A lot, a lot, a lot. Too much. Chris and Jenna don't complain, they just go out there and make great music. A sing-a-long melody and a lyrical sucker punch to the gut. Give "From the Top" a listen! If you don't love it... well, then you and I aren't music friends.” - Lance Burch, writer/comedian/pastor
