We're Gonna Hold On
At the age of seven months Tina Dickson contracted polio, which left her unable to walk for the rest of her life. In spite of this, Tina never felt sorry for herself. When other children were running and playing, she would be at the record player pretending to be an entertainer, using a spoon as a microphone. When Tina was 13 years old her mother bought her a guitar and she learned how to play - her family had to listen to her on a regular basis! She may have been able to continue in music, but knew that her education needed to come first. After that came employment, then marriage, and the years slipped by. But Tina continued to love music over those years, and dreamed of recording a full length album. That dream came to pass at just the right time. Tina was able to connect with producer/arranger Johnny Nixon at JGS Studios in Brantford, Ontario, and she recorded a debut album called “Silver Sandals”, which is also available on CD Baby. Her second album “We’re Gonna Hold On” was the next to come, a duet project featuring producer Johnny Nixon as guest vocalist. Tina has always been inspired by country music and the great artists who have sung the classic songs on this album. In honour of these artists, these songs have been “resurrected” for this album, with the hope that country music will be kept alive and never die! Tina has a wonderful and devoted husband Larry to whom she has been married since 1997, and a loving family who has believed in her, supported her dreams, and taken her to many country shows over the years! Tina’s desire is for people to not think of her as someone who cannot achieve what she desires because of her limitations, but as someone who has achieved and will continue to accomplish the dreams that God has in store for her. This project is another testimony that this indeed is true.
