Thief
A thief breaks into a museum that displays some revered objects. He intends to steal a ceremonial mask that is reputed to have transcendental powers. When he gets back to the sanctuary of his "lair", he puts the mask on and is indeed mentally transported to a flurry of ancient spiritual centers around the world. The last verse was supposed to convey that such transcendental spirituality is all in the "head", refuting his experience. But I changed "head" to "heart" with the closing message that we mostly overlook the obvious and lock into a belief system that endorses and supports a particular point of view.
