Sweet Dreams EP
Estroe and ZoëXenia already teamed up for Connaisseur’s compilation Grand Cru 2007 with their wonderful track “Don’t Forget”. This time the ladies share a split ep with one original track and one remix of both. Estroe’s “Driven” was already a big success on Connaisseur Supérieur at the beginning of this year and found its way on some important compilations and CD-mixes like Ellen Allien’s Fabric mix. Beside her production activities, Estroe is a remarkable and stylistically confident DJ. Famous in the Netherlands, but also slowly recognized outside her home country. ZoëXenia is a singer and songwriter since her teenage years. Her impressing presence combined with her soulful voice made her succeed at the finals of Diesel U-Music Benelux as well as at Grote Prijs van Nederland in 2004. But not only singing is her passion. When she was infected by house music she began to develop her own electronic style as a producer, which ended in her first release on ArtMiniMal in spring 2007. More releases on Remote Area will follow soon. ZoëXenia’s Cherish is a homage to big vocal tunes like “Big Fun” or “Good Life”. But don’t be mistaken, it ain’t a House tune, its driving groove has more the rollin’ Techno power of the motorcity - rumbling and driving. With ZoëXenia’s vocals on top an outstanding track, whose style not many people would have expected on Connaisseur. Estroe’s Can’t Sleep is an oldschoolish Techno track with a driving bassline and a nervous trippin sequence. A swinging rhodes piano part interrupts the sequence in the middle of the track and creates a classic balance between melody and groove. Cherish (Estroe Rmx) – Estroe’s rework takes Cherish from Detroit to Chicago. She reduced the vocals and adds a straight trap set work and a bouncy beat. Proper house music! Can’t Sleep (ZoëXenia Rmx) – has the presence of an old “classic record” tune, very Chicago – nervous meandering percussions, spooky vocals and a flickering aura makes this cut a genuine after hour pearl.
