Comfort and Joy
Christmas is truly a wonderful time of the year, and it has inspired some incredible music. When Tom Braxton arranged these timeless classics for this recording, he wanted to place them in new and interesting settings. The jazz idiom and the voice of the saxophone were perfect vehicles for this endeavor as the CD takes you from the lilting reggae version of "O Come All Ye Faithful" to the fun-filled samba of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." The recording features the stellar vocal talents of Andrea Wallace and Grammy-winning producer Arthur Dyer. On "Silent Night," the two combine for a scatting contest at the end that will have you dancing and clapping! Turn out the lights, turn up the fireplace, and watch the snow gently fall outside as you listen to Andrea's smooth and tender rendition of "Christmas Time Is Here" from the Charlie Brown television special. "Good King 'W'" is a bluesy take on the ancient carol that features guitarist Daran DeShazo and lush background vocals. Part of the wonderment of Christmas is revealed as you listen to Braxton's own children express their excitement about the season in "Tiny Tots." There is truly something here for jazz and holiday music lovers to appreciate. Tom Braxton's enjoyable interpretations of these holiday treasures will certainly add something special to your seasonal celebrations.
