Hot Together (Expanded Edition)
by Ron WynnThe Pointer Sisters didn't fare so well on RCA at the end of the '80s. Their harmonies and sound seemed tame in the wake of the hip-hop, dancehall, and New Jack revolution. The songs were superbly performed and well produced and arranged, but just too sedate for the period. They had a couple of singles make the low end of the R&B charts, but while the album did decently, it was far from the heights they had enjoyed only three years earlier.
