DEREK FREY, e.g., licensed Bjarne O.'s music through AudioSparx (Associate Producer: Tim Burton's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, CORPSE BRIDE and SWEENY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET- Co-Producer: the critically acclaimed FRANKENWEENIE, among others.) REVIEWS Nice modern sound: The opening somewhat reminds me of a modernist view of plainchant really cool effect. This song is in no hurry to go anywhere but that's ok as it seems to constantly solidify the mood of a mix between 20th century music and ancient polyphonic church choir styles. Very interesting piece I would certainly have to listen to it multiple times to catch all the little nuences well done! - sparker, Vermillion, South Dakota, July 23rd, 2005 Very nice piece... I was surprised when I actually heard a song in this category that was classical. There are very few in this category that are actually classical and the ones who are are are being beat out by country, ambient, and other misplaced genres, which is sad. I really enjoyed this composition and it's great use of dynamics. This piece has a very familiar, yet orignal sound with well mixed instruments. I liked the use of operatic voice/wind instrument sounds but would have like to hear a little more variation in the vocal melody. The song provides a nice variety of instruments and percussion to really keep the listener engaged. The song also has an overall somber feel, but accented with moments of intensity which really do well to propell the song forward. This reminded me of a Wagner sort of sound. Great job! - Sorthious from Richmond, Virginia on 30Jun2005 Haunting. Haunting harmonies. Sounds like underground 1760s music. Whoa, that cello or whatever it is hits some weird unexpected notes - I like that a lot. The organ backed with the vocals is very cool. This is very refreshing to hear. It is unfocused in a good way. Here the experiment worked out. This might sound like film music to some but I believe it can stand on its own. Thank you for this. I love the sounds. - DevinDevin from Soggytown, Monkeyville on 19Jul2005 Dramatic I'd consider this more ambient than classical...although I love the changes...it is a quite dramatic piece...a lot of changes crammed into 3:55...love the horns...the only thing I would do is double or triple the violin making it stronger...but a very well done piece...thank you for the music.. - YUTZ from Manchester, New Hampshire on 18Jul2005 Muliti Moods At one moment it seems sad, then mysterious, then forboding, then reluctantly trimuphant seemlessly flowing to form a continuous exceptional musical composition. Masterful blending of instruments from one phrase to the next. - ABVanGrieg from Huntsville, Alabama on 15Jul2005 This song has a greery feeling to it. The vocals in it are very interesting...kinda spooky...the production...is put together nicely...i like the ins and outs of the song...very good classical sounding music... - autorewind from Arlington, Texas on 13Jul2005 Great CHILLING AND FEELING FINE LOVE THE ARRANGEMENT MOST PUNCH OUT OF THIS TRACK FIREWORKS IN MY HEAD BIG SMILE THANK YOU . - bmllive from Boston, Massachusetts on 12Jul2005 Hello Reminds me of the last of the Mohichans, or the end of a war or something. Very death and religious sounding, I think it sounds pretty professional. - piercedgarage from Beloit, Wisconsin on 5Jul2005 Strong Intro I like the way the intro to this song immediately sets the mood. The arrangement and chord changes are good. The pipe organ lends a nice originality to things overall. Well done. - gypsynomad from Southport, Maine on 5Jul2005 I love the vocals, man It's a hearty sound so large and really draws attention, I mean it takes my breath away this is such a cool musical idea. I think you really got what it takes. - lastinline15 from Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on 5Jul2005 Beautiful to start with I sounds like a mix between eastern and western music cultures . The presence of the organ is quite atonishing but it is difficult to appreciate the form in a first listening so there are several original ideas in this piece. The instrumentation is good. This band is looking for new paths even if tonality is not so far. The strings instruments are doing a very fine performance. The arrangement is good. The appearance of the trumpet is a very good musical idea. - Pejinacho from Las Palmas De Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain on 30Jun2005 I feel like i may have done somthing wrong..... I dont know where I am... a forest, the jungle, egypt... lost in traslation...abrupt atmospheric hallucination muliply by a life existence and attached to somthing you can never lay your finger on...I heard this in a movie once...my growth was then stunted... I know somthing doesn't sit right in the stomach of the review gone wrong...subsided from myself let me say i didnt mean to pick classical music.... but i enjoy it...take that grasp of epic perportions...and show the world...love...just show love.... - Lukapotamos from Clovis, California on 29Jun2005 Nice production!! Great track, very soundtrack, the vocals could have been real, vould have made a real difference, great diverse mix of sounds, awesome sound from what I am guessing is all from a keyboard...you should contact movie companies or computer games publishers for soundtrack work - Hipshotttom from Camberley, Surrey, United Kingdom on 28Jun2005 Very original Quite a grandiose composition!! Interesting arrangement. iIdo wish that some instruments returned towards the end again. At the beginning there seemed to be an instrument that sounded like a traditional stringed chinese instrument. it would have been nice to hear it again. - mojovoodoo from Venice, California on 27Jun2005 Odd but good Weird choice of tone - especially for the vocal sounding tone,..sometimes it sound slike an erhu, or some asian type of bowed instrument, then other times it sound slike a voice. I cant make out what it is. This goes thru many different convolutions and permutations, from a baroque style to a modern classical style. It is very film music'ish and I think it is actually pretty epic. This creates a nice texture and nice feel through out. Great work. - Mydnyter from Lakewood Center, Washington on 23Jun2005 Picturesque I think this has a great mood. I enjoy the melody and think it is very strong. At first I thought it was going to have a eastern sound which in some way it does. But it has very hollywood film written all over it. I think the orchestration is very fitting. I would have liked to have heard just one section that had a simpler melody line just to balance the wonderful changes that take place. The build up at the end is done very well. Very good work - Gumbyz from Chicago, Illinois on 22Jun2005 I love it dark: I have been waiting to hear something like this. it is so dark and creepy. I love it! I love the layered strings with pipe organ hauntingly supporting them in the background. Those strings are sampled very well...unless they are real. The voicings are good for samples and work well; don't sound too fake. I feel that the brass takes away from it just a little bit...maybe not even worth mentioning. Arrangement is good along with the feel of it. Good job. - guitarkid5 from Chicago, Illinois on 20Jun2005 Ok I am speechless! This is so good that I don't know what to say. It suggests a lot of moods/ situations too. It has a lot of Asian music references...took me to the " Silk Road, and perhaps a scene from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The Er-hu, a Chinese bowed instrument, sounds so beautiful here. Actually the mixture of western and oriental instruments and musical styles is so convincing. The balance and the mixing are very professional too. Masterful Works of a Worldclass Composer: it sounds immaculate! The beautiful textures are ever evolving. I feel edified like a heartfelt prayer to God. All of the textures are epic and moving in every way. From one composer to another, you have reached the pinnacle...and have created something that will catch the ears and hearts og many many people." "Ready for the Silver Screen: This composer knows how to use music to create a dramatic effect. Production and arrangement is flawless. At times the song is reminiscent of the soundtrack to a Steven Spielberg blockbuster...I hope the publisher of this music is knocking on all the doors in Hollywood...this should be in film.” Science Fiction Electronica Wow, great intro. Sounds like a suspenseful soundtrack piece from a very good science fiction movie. This is very professional. One of the more creative pieces here. Nice layers unfolding as you go along. Call Speilberg he needs you. - xandal from Indianapolis, Indiana on 23Sep2004 conceptual I dig this right out of the gate- it's broad on a conceptual scale and isnt typical in any respect. It's reminicient of Eric Serra's score for the movie "The Fifth Element" and I think you have managed to create an interesting tapestry of audio soundscape. I can't really knock this. It's well done and I think successful. Epic in scope. One question though- are you using roland Synthesis? sound slike the Roland Orchestral expansion card,..Possibly a JV 90 keyboard? Just curious. - Jaedynconley from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on 7Oct2004 Great Mood! Excellent Mood & ambience in the intro...Enjoying the slow but steady build...Yes cosmic vox is also cool...This is v good soundtrack material...Lots of interesting sounds well integrated in the well-constructed arrangement...I dont know why but there is something oriental in the feel, good contrast of Yin & Yang! - SCOTT_HILL from London, England, United Kingdom on 7Oct2004 Good Luck Let me start by saying that this song was beautiful. It was a completely relaxing piece and I like the samples at the beginning and end. This song probably won't recieve as good of reviews as it deserves due to the length of the intro and nature of the piece. This is in no way a criticism of the music but I'm sure that many people won't take the time to listen past the first 90 seconds. That is the only flaw with this website and the competition. Songs that kick off right away have an unfair advantage to songs that build. The production on this piece was perfect and I would definitely listen to this again - Goodguyx from York, Pennsylvania on 6Oct2004 an eargasm this is just a great piece of work - J_M_ from Massapequa, New York on 6Oct2004 Don't you love soundtracks? Ok I am speechless! This track is so good that I don't know what to say. It suggests a lot of moods/situations too. First it starts off like when a movie starts with the main title showing (gotta love that "warp" effect). It has a lot of Asian music references... took me to the Silk Road, and perhaps a scene from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The Er-hu, a Chinese bowed instrument, sounds so beautiful here. Actually the mixture of western and oriental instruments and musical styles is so convincing. Excellent montage of sounds. I can see a lot of high-quality sample libraries of orchestral instruments are used here. The balance and the mixing are very professional too. Truly an orchestral psychedelic trip! Kudos! - Frankie_Ho from Hong Kong, Hong Kong on 4Oct2004 groovy the intro keeps you guessing where it's going to go,but you choose to stay on the laid back side and it pays off....that is anice build in for where you go ..the accents on the drum programs really highlight the 2nd phase ..going back to the voice thing from the intro and breaking it back down was good move ...the vocals are atmospheric and really fit the song (although i'm fairly sure they are just samples) - artherius from Baltimore, Maryland on 3Oct2004 FX This seems like a production art. I like the different things going on.. almost like a movie going on in the background. The chimes are great.. i love chimes. Really good production here.. amazing quality. This song is really nice.. its really uplifting. - Audible_Mirror from Roanoke, Virginia on 3Oct2004 movie magic interesting samples in the intro, great synth work too, nicely layered under the vocals, the beat comes in with a little too much cymbal but well mixed, super soundtrack stuff - djkillwill from White Plains, New York on 28Sep2004 make the crowd shout!!! i like this relaxing deep deep sound with softly melody!!! I like this very much!!! I wanna fly away with this music!! I wanna swim in deep blue sea and wanna see the rise of the sun!!! Thanxxx for the feelingz From Russia with love.. - Hardbass from Unspecified on 25Sep2004 Krumpet Speaks It's the musical spaceship from the planet of Awkward Pleasantries. I feel a little bit overfilled with the sounds of heaven. But wait, there is a beat and light. I see a great glow on the horizon. I will complete my misson, by God I will. Who would have guessed that it was live all this time? - krumpet from Stillwater, Oklahoma on 25Sep2004 Industrial Heaven A very interesting mood is created on the start of this track with bells pads and strings. And I think that will be the pattern for this swirling cauldron of sound. At 1.37 its almost meditation music but then a beat comes in complete with timpani and takes the track to a whole new level. An interesting production. - cling from Ilford, London, United Kingdom on 24Sep2004 ethereal spooky the beginning is film noirish. i am digging the samples of the crowd and the female "alright". then it sgets really ethereal and it sounds enlightening like it was written for a sci fi movie or fantasy picture. it has organic almost tribal elements with the timpani and the female voices are used sparingly then the alright comes back at the end. this song engaged me like a good short story from intro to climax. - thewildlife from Worker Bee, California on 23Sep2004 great soundtrack song An excellent production. Really smooth and moody melody full with details and a lovely flow. A lot of character that transports the listener to far away lands, where harmonious sounds swim hand in hand in the current of the melody. excellent. - triple_erre from Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 22Sep2004 ambient noise rules I like the beggining alot. Makes me feel like I am at an insane carnival from my nightmares. This track is very relaxing. Everything flows nicely and comes in at just the right places. That blows my real player just messed up in the middle of the song....this saddens me cause it was a great song. Ill just have to check it out later. Keep up the good work. - PiseesBP from San Marcos, Texas on 22Sep2004 International This is a very claming and medatative track. It has a wonderful blending of the different cultural instruments and stylings, into a national ambiguity that we call the world. Excellent job in the tight mix, the levels were set for good distinction, and had a very rich and textured sound. I do wonder about the 'live' feel addition to it, but no matter it doesn't distract from the piece as a whole. It's a nice journey that you've put out. -TSquared from Longmont, Colorado on 21Sep2004 Step aside Hans Zimmer: Cool, the vocalist has a few flashes of Lisa Gerrard, and the second half of the track is in true adventure movie fashion (remember Gladiator?). The guitars in the intro sound awesome, and the classical turn in the second half is well arranged. And once again, the vocals bring out the ambience in the song. - calvs12 from Unspecified on 13Dec2004 ***** - Monumentally epic. Very smooth and attention commanding opening, very similar at first to "Mortal combat" with the reverse-ish cymbal. The guitar sounds phenomenal. The whole song at this point reminds me of something I might hear at a Cirque du Soleil show (I'm in around 1:00). It's very mysterious and dark, sort of suspenseful, with the synth zooming in and out, the very soulful vocalist belting out "oh's!". At around 2:00, the mood shifts..and there's a lightness in the organ sounding break, which metamorphosizes into a violin sound smoothly...building and building, then coming into a horn section (which at first sounds like the line from the song in the movie "close encounters"). Building futher, into a cacaphony of choral-like singing and a flaoist. Then back to our original vocalist (the soulful one). This is a beautifully arranged piece. It's got a ton of elements that are brought together in a remarkably able fashion, and I'm in admiration of the composer. It's epic. While this isn't something I'd likely hear on the radio, it's epic, as I said, and easily something I could picture as a soundtrack/soundstage track. It's got ridiculous production, ridiculous arrangement and by ridiculous I mean awesome. ***** - Not a complaint in the world... Wonderful work. Best of luck! - DevonPowell from Columbia, Maryland on 2Nov2004 Sexy intro: Nice guitar intro...until 1:54 I felt like I was watching a movie where the main character died. I felt the rain...it was dark... a woman was weeping on her knees. The feeling then went from sorrow to wonder. She then was standing on a cliff in the sun with her hair blowing in the breeze. Sorry, back to the basics...Great production, instrumentation, arrangement and over all sound. Excellent transitions. Music is supposed to create feeling and you did a wonderful job doing that! Thanks for the movie... Extra credit for production and mood! - Florencemae from Forest, Virginia on 6Jan2005 Soundtrack!! This song would be perfect for a movie. The intro could be a little longer, But worked fine with me. Well used Pads and The guitar are way cool. The female singer has the mystery, "reminds me of Mobys singer". To keep the song intresting. This song is very well produced, and keeps my attention all the time. Thumbs up!! - soundfreak from Gothenburg, Sweden on 30Dec2004 Super Orchestration: The opening guitar was awesome. I was ready to enjoy completely from the opening but the contrasting section was very unexpected. Excellently done. MASTER COMPOSER STATUS - ABVanGrieg from Huntsville, Alabama on 9Dec2004 Orchestral magic: Excellent guitars intro. Very moody licks. The vocals and strings really add up into the vibe of the song. Excellent production. Very cool orchestral elements that play into the mix, sounds like a really epic tale coming to life. Excellent work! - triple_erre from Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 8Dec2004 Grand: Nice, spacey electro jam. The singer has a powerful gospel-style voice in the vein of the singing on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. The song then moves into movie theme mode with strings, horns, and choir voices, even playing a snippet of the Close Encounters Theme. My favorite part of the song is when the gospel voice sings over the choir, horns, and strings. That's a grand moment. Good production, too. - vadiamond from Orange, California on 5Nov2004 Bliss. The intro and guitars are beautiful along with the soulful vocals. The music is definitely best potrayed in an uplifting movie. This song is wonderfully arranged - I love classical. The transition from guitar to violins and strings was kind of unexpected. I enjoyed this song thoroughly and felt at ease by the ending. This was well arranged and had much emotion to convey. Great work. - dustfungus from Bath, Maine on 4Nov2004 Lonely night on the streets and then....? ...80s rock is making and comeback and here it is, in your face. Very Bon Jovi beginning, I am in the electronic section, correct? The intro feels like a story is about to be told, something about a cold night in the city. And then...At 1:30 am wondering where we are headed as the woman sings. At 1:56 i am lost, is that a full orchestra? At 2:11 I completely lose it and at 2:35 there are horns and at 2:45 there is a choir. How did you make this song?!!!! I am really lost, what is this exactly? At 3:45 I feel like I have fallen onto broadway, in the middle of a major revelation in the story line. Very dramatic but what is going on here. Ok, this song is so well put together, I cant get over it. I have no idea what just happened but it is seamless. Your production is great, I think every one should listen to this song and see how the elements come together. It is very movie soundtrackish, but that is because of the grand sounds. It is a truly large song. I will be checking into your other work. I want to see if all of your art is this well constructed. - mjhill5807 from Birmingham, Alabama on 3Nov2004 OMG is this electronic or Joe Satriani or Phil Collins or Enya or a marching band or the Philharmonic or ah...its an inspiring movie's soundtrack and its perfect...makes your legs tingle. - xMTone from Columbus, Ohio on 17Mar2005 Psychadelic guitar flows over some other atmospheric stuff with a vocal coming in now and again a very interesting start definately grabs your attention and creates a good air of anticipation making you wonder what is coming next it sounds to me like an epic film soundtrack especially when it changes at about 2.05 definately hearing music for the media here - cling from Ilford, London, United Kingdom on 28Feb2005 Pensive: Moody, distant guitar riffs, remind me of a Pink Floyd interlude. I like this, it's simple yet professional. Good work. - progenitor from Dallas, Texas on 4Feb2005 This takes you on a trip through the decades of all sorts of very diverse musical genres..heavy metal, the lonesome cry of South american moods, and finally a most characteristic and powerful voice emerges, backed by a frail keyboard-tune..and the sound of violins, too...sounds like an entire orchestra...very high-strung, kitsch, and dramatic. And it works, too! - selzic from Copenhagen, Europe, Denmark on 27Jan2005 This sounds very much like an epic movie soundtrack song, and does it good. The first part with the electric guitar sounds a bit too much like it was taken out of beverly hills, but when the vocals come in at about 1:20 things get better. A nice buildup turns into a very soft part at about 2:00 which then gets better and better until it really becomes great when the trumpet (or what it is) comes in at 2:30. From there on it's fantastic, with a lovely mood that could've been taken from the LoTR soundtrack. Very good work on that part. - arete from NorrkËping, ÷StergËtland, Sweden on 11Jan2005 Please continue making songs just like this one, i loved it. slow start, but soon found its way into a pro like mood. great job - dollars_4_joe from Salt Lake City, Utah on 9Jan2005 Magical virtuosity What a marvelous piece! Takes you by surprise, and keeps you there! Marvelous recording and arrangement. This was worth every second f listening, and will be worth quite a few more. Professional work like this can only be admired, and be inspiring. Absolutely wonderful. Thanks! - LuiGentile from Eitorf-Bach, Originally Connecticut, Germany on 23Feb2005 Very original Yeah, I like this. I like how there's no metered rhythm, just free stuff at the beginning. Really pretty stuff when it comes in. Very original and makes you keep listening. This is great, just when you think you know what's coming, it changes. Good work, would love to hear more. Keep rockin! - nkcmusic1972 from Jacksonville, Florida on 22Feb2005 Very Beautiful! Awesome arrangement and style. I absolutely loved the presentation! The vocals are heavenly and compliments the song greatly. Just a beautiful overall tune! Well done! - halemahina from Sherman Oaks, California on 22Feb2005 Irish War Classic Sounds like a Irish Movie soundtrack. Very good use of whatever you're using to capture the sound and idea. What was the general idea behind this piece? Nice production and very original. - RobertMichael from Meggett, South Carolina on 23Feb2005 Oi! scottish-esque! Very fit for a movie soundtrack! it's pretty good...all in all, I think it's great...could work perfect for a movie or computer game! - JosephineCounty from St George, Utah on 23Feb2005 The hills are alive. A nice piece. Beautiful and calming melodies surround you in a world of days gone by. Wonderful orchestration. - jimmygrind from San Diego, California on 23Feb2005 Yes! Bag pipes are cool. nice feel. and then that angelic voice, who is that?I know that voice. Creative use of samples. Short enough to listen to twice. - BushDickey from Lincoln, Nebraska on 23Feb2005 Very cool Interesting sound. Bagpipe sounds cool and i think the best in this song is strings arrangments. Very good. - lowp from Siena, Italy on 23Feb2005 Sounds like another Gladiator theme For some reason i picture this song being play during Gladiator or Alexander or one of those style movies. It sorta has a middle eastern feel, even though it sound very keltic too. I don't know where to place it exactly, but I like it. - Polarisleader from Parker, Colorado on 22Feb2005 Pretty Good There is a definite mood built. It's a little scattered of a feeling I got from the arrangement. I kept waiting for something to happen to tie it together, and then the singer came in, then the drums. This is pretty good. - dbtempest from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 22Feb2005 Very celtic I like the choice of the ethnic instruments here. The intro is omnious sounding which give a interesting lead in to the first theme area. The string arrangement has a wonderful timbre and is idiomatic! I'm not sure if the piece was meant to be so fragmented in the structure, with very abrupt transitions of sections. This gives it a Stravinsky-esque effect, but overall the piece could be a little more unified formally. - pieceofcake from Bright's Grove, Ontario, Canada on 22Feb2005 Fantasy! Best potential movie soundtrack! Full with fantasy and emotions. Great female vocal + very good arranging at all. I like the composition, there is nothing to do better. It's a finished track. Just do more of these kind of tracks. This song could be also a potential game soundtrack. Why not, ha? Yours Aaron. -H i R-- harlanaron from Los Angeles, California on 2Apr2005 Majestic This sounds like a "big band" piece, but still manages to pull off the serene feeling of a relaxing piece. Great job in the post-production; this must have taken time. I like the chanting that starts around 1:30. I also like how this whole song builds to a climax in the middle, then tails off. - Ron_Landreth from Bunker Hill, Illinois on 1Apr2005 MUST BE RICH? How else could somebody afford to bring in an entire symphony orchestra? Well, they probably didn't, but it sure does sound like it. The first theme and variation is simple, yet haunting. Nice percussion ensemble and well programed. Strings sound so real it scares me. 2nd theme with the vocal, chorus and brass choir just slam dunks this arrangement into the next level. Sounds a little list Holst or RVW (I love that). I have to assume that this is all by plugins, but after listening to the piece three times I still can't point to a spot where it is proven that a keyboard is controlling things. Composer definitely has a good command of orchestration. Sign me up for lessons! - Horse_Attack from Brookville, Indiana on 23Mar2005 I'm new to the classical genre. Like most people who aren't really familiar with this genre, a lot of classical music seems to conjure up image, and I tend to associate classic with movie soundtrack. And this one doesn't make exception for me. I really love those voices in the background. I love the more percussive element too. Loved those strings...well I pretty much loved everything about the track. Really great stuff. - desertedparking from Quebec, Canada on 29Mar2005 I like it: The terminator just breeched the defense systems of the starship Enterprize while Indiana left his gold in the hospice where King Tut passed away when President Bush ate abortions to clear away his grays, its cool man. - appleseedband from San Diego, California on 29Mar2005 With this song, I see... I love reviewing the classical stuff because it leaves so much to the imagination. With this song I see the orient..allthough it's obviously got european influence. I also see foggy mountains and adventure, exploration. It's definately dramatic. This kind of composition would definately work in film. I think! - Rofe from Sacramento, California on 26Mar2005 Overall, a very well done piece of music. It does a great job of setting up a dark and haunting mood, and then keeps that going solidly through the whole piece, without ever becoming repetitive or boring. The music progresses through a lot of changes, but all the transitions are very smooth and it all makes sense. Great arrangement on the orchestration. The color of all the instruments blend very well, nothing overpowers anything else, but everything can be heard in the mix. A nice haunting melody that holds our interest without being flashy, it fits perfectly in the mood of this song. And great use of percussion to keep the tune moving while maintaining the tense mood of the piece. Also, the choir voices fit in very well and added a lot of color to the overall mix. I am sure it is all done on synths/samplers, but if so, it is very well done. The voices, strings, brass, percussion all sound very real. The only criticism I would have, is that the overall volume of the production is too low. I had to turn way up to hear it (a common problem here on GB), but when I did, the production sounded very good. Well done. - nwenigma from Plano, Texas on 25Mar2005 Violins: i love the flow and the greatness of the sounds that are mixed in the production is good to. - rickdavisrrt from Indian Harbor Be, Florida on 23Mar2005 Great orchestration: I like the intro with the timpany. The percussion really stays tight throughout. The vocals sound synthesized, but they sound good. Is this all synthesized? I guess it is, but you have some good synths. Great sequencing, has a very classical sound. I can see this being a score for a film. Somewhat John Williams--very cinematic and dramatic. - newcomerx from Boulder, Colorado on 20Mar2005 Nice surprise: With a somber start, this piece progresses nicely. The haunting flute and horn flourishes suggest a battlefield scene after the skirmish. The vocal parts are a clever addition and the drum backgrounds are well done. - PHARQUARTT from Kent, Washington on 19Mar2005 Captivating: This is a wonderful piece. All of the instruments really complement each other very well, while still maintaining their own independance at times. I like your use of perfect fourths throughout. You make some dissonances very pleasing to the ear with this piece. I could easily see this as a movie score. Off hand it reminds me of the setup for some major battles in a lot of popular movies. Wonderful piece. - ElementCrash from Waukesha, Wisconsin on 16Mar2005 Very engaging opening. Nice strings. Nice use of drums. Nice horns. YAY! A Triangle! Still cool. Woods and strings match nicely. Beautiful flute! Snare resonates too much. Seek snappier sound. Nice low brass. Nice full brass sound. Seek OH shape. Beautiful voice. Nice edge in horns. Nice choir. Nice gong! Drums create the mood deffiently! Nice cresendo. Trumpets ROCK! Some of the melodies sound like the Rohan theme from Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers. - half_breed_tx from Dickinson, Texas on 15Mar2005 Epic: Great atmosphere at the beggining...I love these tympanis ....The flute could be a little lower...but that's just an opinion ...the vocals are fantastic...greath synth effect....it's a very minucious job and you’ve done it in a very mature way...I love it....specially the way you've mixed the orchestra!!! Well...congratulations on the job!!! - MEIRELLES from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on 11Mar2005 big movie: This has the "Big Movie" feel which is what I most appreciate and look for in my favorite kinds of music. Well produced and arranged, with great percussion and vocals. The horns are well placed and crisp. Really the whole orchestra sounds wonderful.....and if this was done on a synth, I wanna know which one;-) - logrhythm from Boulder, Colorado on 11Mar2005 I like the mood of this song. it makes you seem like you are about to go to war and youre marching towards the other side and its about pride and about your destiny and then the singing comes in and it just adds to the whole thing. It just keeps building up like youre getting closer and closer. - crystal_berries from Shelby Township, Michigan on 23Feb2005 Somber, but sweet: Oooo, how adagio it is. The mood is nice and somber, but in a sweet way. The more I listen to it, the more I think that it needs to change at some point...and then the voices came in. The voices give it that texture that breaks it up and makes it interesting. - nkcmusic1972 from Jacksonville, Florida on 23Feb2005 Movie soundtrack: heh, reminds me much of the terminator series soundtrack. Very good though, has an asian feel with the woodwind instrumentation. I enjoy this song a lot. would go perfect for a movie, or even more so a game. - JosephineCounty from St George, Utah on 23Feb2005 Inspiring sombre moods: I believe I am beginning to recognize the style of this ensemble, and that is a good thing. Especially the female vocalist who does a wonderful job. Very deep, moody, and inspiring piece this one. An excellent recording worth listening to from beginning to end .. again and again. great work! - LuiGentile from Eitorf-Bach, Originally Connecticut, Germany on 23Feb2005 Beautiful! Really great. Thought it was going to be just string quartet, and was pleasantly surpised by the orchestration. Great moods all throughout the song. (and great transitions between them) Very original too - extra bonus! Have a listen everybody! The change at 3:52 is fantastic! WOW WOW WOW REALLY GOOD - THE BEST I'VE HEARD ON THIS WEBSITE. Thanks and BEST of luck! - m_medley from Atlanta, Georgia on 1Apr2005 Fugue for thought Actually, occasionally "fugue-like" in construction...but not really. Wonderfully intricate musical conversations here. Imaginative and inspiring. Flowing changes spinning in and out of musical textures. Excellent use of synth sounds here. A piece where it sounds like each note was placed with intent for effect and purpose. A grand piece, probably part of something bigger. This artist has much talent for orchestration and grand composition! Bravo! - LuiGentile from Eitorf-Bach, Originally Connecticut, Germany on 23Mar2005 minimalist influance This piece really seems to be driven by melody and the use of counterpoint. I can hear a nice mix of minimalist techniques along with of some use of concepts from the Romantic era. This kind of reminds me of John Adams. Your harmonic progression are what really remind me of Strauss or some other Romantic composer. However, it is this kind of dramatic harmony that makes this sound like it should be a movie score or something. I like the fact that you have a few different contrasting sections to keep the listener interested. Overall, I really like this piece (especiall the opening 'minimalist' section in the strings) I hope you continue to develop your ideas. - tsedwons from Springfield, Missouri on 31Mar2005 Nice composition This is a well composed piece of music. It sort of has an Aaron Copland feel to it, especially in the first part (and the part like that which comes later). - nwenigma from Plano, Texas on 28Mar2005 Noble/Dynamic/Restless .... piece with strings, brass, piano, percussion accents and surprise elements(the type of sweeps and swells you might hear in a classic movie score). The music is restless. In the 1st 60 seconds it works it's way from single cello to full orchestra crescendo, changing gears in the 2nd minute to an existential yet noble steady meter string progression which again keeps getting stronger and fuller before falling away to the start of movement #3 at 2:25. This is a movement featuring solo stringed and brass instruments in various textures with dynamic starts and stops. The finale 3:20 revisits movement #2 more forcefully with percussion accents, a surprise sweep dynamic 3:44 and vocal harmonies to end on. That was the general blow by blow but the impact of this piece is impressive. It compacts a trainload of harmonic/virtuoso ideas, dynamics and execution into just over a 4 minute composition ! -Foxxymoron from Missoula, Montana on 23Mar2005 “A revelation! - Superb! - A Requiem for everyone who has an inclination to film music or the symphonic genre! Here we are presented with an almost purely symphonic work created on a computer by a very musical individual.” It is clear that Bjarne O. doesn't want his listener to fall asleep! On this delightful album there is splendid alternation between forces with opposing directions - tension/release - disharmony/ harmony, with the weight centered within the harmonic spectrum! It's a matter of structure that brings to mind the classical Requiem, and with titles such as "Hosanna", "Gloria's sky song" (the 'Gloria' response), and "Prayer" the allusion is clear! But that's not sufficient because we may certainly also use our wits and listen to the texts: for example, "Always thinking of you" where an "Eleison" (have mercy on us) is sung. We find ourselves within a very freewheeling universe where there is room for all allusions and references. Thus, "Bach and Forth", the humorous Johan Sebastian clone! In "Rebild Hills Suite" there must be a faint allusion to Star Wars in the opening theme. And then there are the beautiful, spiritual passages such as those in "Sad Song". - Here, I must say that if it's possible for a person to master such a delicate expanse of resonant sounds so tenderly and carefully together with brilliant vocal samples, and then in addition, to vary the themes with this choice of instruments (harp, piano, strings and additional chorus), not even to mention the conclusion itself - well, then it's a question of being in a class all its own! All things considered, the album's final numbers have a quite extraordinary beauty in my ears. Here it's a matter of joyful release. And this the listener definitely can look forward to! In the final number, "Comba Li La", we get a demonstration of how it's possible to utilize a syncopated native chorus with triplet handclaps in counterpoint rhythm. Bravo! Again, the orchestration is brilliant. I just love that piano. I feel like shouting out to everyone: "Listen to this album - and hear that this can be done! With this album release, Bjarne O. has truly succeeded in creating something unique. Masterful joy of composition - completely overwhelming love for this musical genre - this album radiates with light!! I hope that many others will derive pleasure from this beautiful album - it deserves to be heard. Congratulations! -- Carsten Ji., Producer ### A masterpiece! Atmospheric intro, you understand this is not a "common song" since the very 1st notes. Excellent the vocal additions. Reminds me of the David Arkenstone production, with a tip of Jean Michel Jarre, both for the sounds and for the orchestration/arrangement. Delicious, with "tapping" strings, trombones, percussions... A kid voice it may recall "The lord of the rings" soundtrack and the excellent "Braveheart" style flutes of James Horner (or, better, Michael and Jeff Danna's style, which is even better). A masterpiece! - guthorm from Unspecified on 22Aug2004 A Real Composer. An electronic vox pad eases in, laying a bed for a femal vocal sounding melody. A rich vox & Pitz textured section moves in. The female comes back with what sounds like latin frases. I took a chance in this genera, because I don't like much electronic music, although I write a lot of it. But this is truely well done orchestration, electronic or not. It takes a real composer to understand the instruments he works with, so as to use then to their full potential. This is a real composer. Hats Off Bro. - ajak from Port Orchard, Washington on 17Aug2004 Deep Very melancholic!!! The chord - up is very unexpected, but great!! Very good world song, the arrangement is very interesting and innovative with these jazzy motives in flute solo. The flute is amazing, but i thing that necessary addition would be some bagpipes :)) Very good and original song, great for LOTR :) This is the kind of style we all like best!! ;) - AlexValkov from Sofia, Bulgaria on 26Aug2004 Beautiful. This song opens with stunningly beautiful operatic, slightly electronically treated female vocals, orchestral swirlings and an epic, open feel. There are sprinkings of flute that remind me of the title track from the film 'The Titanic', which I happen to like, so all is well. There are understated, yet over blown full orchestral swells throughout, which are breathtaking. This is slow and ambient, yet stunningly epic at the same time, creating a dreamy, filmscape mood of sunsets and vast oceans. It's an exercise in mood and musical imagery and would work very well as a film soundscape. The production and arrangement is pristine and to a very high standard. I drifted away and forgot my worries for a while and for this, I thank the artist profusely... - Liz_lowlife from Brighton, Sussex, United Kingdom on 24Aug2004 STUNNING (I feel like anything I say will be schmoozing, but I'll give it a whirl.) This is just georgeous! The mood & passion you convey here is breathtaking. Classical,archaic...ancient Ireland even. The intro grabbed me within seconds, and that flute is just stunning... I think you did a fine job of mixing all of the instruments together-this is really just a fantastic track. The heavy strings, particularly the lower ones, are quite strong. Between the heavy dominating strings, and the soft angelic singing...it's perfectly balanced...and a wonderful play on masculine/feminine. LOVE IT. Thx- _TFS_ from St. Austell, Cornwall, United Kingdom on 18Aug2004 Beautiful I really like the beginning. It is instantly appealing and moving, the sounds sweeping and grandiose. The vocal is fantastic, deep, lush and beautiful. There is a strong orchestral feel which gives the song a touch of distance regions, and has that transportive movie soundtrack feel. The choice of instruments is very complimentary, the woodwind especially as are the vocal choruses. - djsiren from Soton, Hants, United Kingdom on 23Aug2004 World beats at its best! Oooh, I love that beat! It's like a fusion of modern Western and African. The vocalist is an absolutely perfect match for the tone of the song, and the underlying sample is so totally ethnic that it just couldn't be any better. The transitions are powerful yet smooth. That's not something you hear too often. Overall this is a vey powerful world-beat/ambient track. I know how difficult it is to meld this kind of fusion but it has been done masterfully here. It's not often you come across a song that has such a full range of features, even in label-quality releases. Full bassline, keyboards, effects, strings, vocals, samples and such a full ambience that you can't decide which part of the sound to focus on. This is definitely release-quality. Congratulations on a top-notch production! - BailOut from Mansfield, Texas on 21Aug2004 Ticket to a Magical Place A short lead-in of hand drums and THE voice enters -- a female voice at once plaintive and seductive, with an edge of anger sometimes drifting into tired resignation. It took three listens to realize that the lead vocalist never sings -- her speaking voice is so melodic and emotionally nuanced. Behind her beautifully recorded voice, rhythmically clapping hands mix with a call-and- response African chorus. Above her voice soars an ephemeral soprano reminiscent of prayer calls from a minaret. Deep beneath the vocals, a richly-bowed bass lays a ominous track, lending a fearful unease of impending doom worthy of John Williams' score for Jaws. This richly layered mix brings in synths sounding like piano, orchestral strings, vibes and church bells before ending with a few bars of squishy synth, serving to bring the listener back in place and time -- a final flourish before letting go. Bringing all these elements together into a smooth, cohesive unit is a tour de force. The production values are top notch. I'm unable to recognize the language (or languages) of the lead vocalist and sadly my multilingual wife is fast asleep. At times I think I hear French, Swahili, Japanese, Italian and Portuguese. My best guess is a patois of a former French colony in Africa -- perhaps Mauritania or Senegal (flaunting my provincial ignorance). The song on first listen seemed repetitious, but paradoxically on repeated listens becomes hypnotic and frightfully compelling. By the last time through, I found it difficult not to play one more time and let the song retake me to this all-too-real place carved out palpably from the musical spheres. In a span of less than five minutes the song carries a mixture of fear, joy, community, isolation and even whimsy. On careful examination, the song becomes an epic novel, with plot and revelation and resolution. Although my exposure to World Beat is limited, I believe this is a work of remarkable breadth and originality. - stonesculptor from Houston, Texas on 23Aug2004 Wicked... The piano in this gives me goosebumps, and the ladies voice, even though i know not what she's singing is mesmerising. I love this its simple and very beautiful. - Hum from Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom on 22Aug2004 Electro-world orchestra The vocal line is interesting and deliciously introduces this catchy, groovie song. The indian voice (I believe it speaks indian or african, but I don't understand what language is it) well fits the unquieting, interesting melodic line. Very good use of the back instruments, such as strings, bass and backvocals. The piano addtions are just amazing. I like this electronic-world style of 1st class. the arrangement is the one you may find in an electronic orchestra finely directed/arranged. - guthorm from Unspecified on 22Aug2004 Very successful eclectic instrumentation. Vocals are appealing, beats and chorus that fades in are very nice. Production and mix is very good. The low bowed strings add tension and intrigue to the mood. Don't speak this language, can't identify the language (Creole?) but it is well suited to the mood and instrumentation. This combines eclectic modern instrumentation with organic world music very successfully, this is not and easy blend to achieve. The vocals both sung and spoken are excellent. Very nice. Is this Bjarne? sounds like his style.. i guess I'll see :). - utensil from Dickerson, Maryland on 18Aug2004 If Aaron Copeland were alive today... ... he might write something like this! Terrific use of orchestral samples in a classical-dance setting. And we aren't talking just strings either; this is full-on symphonic jazz, with rhythm to boot. Nice layering of the synth pads into the production, so that they become an undertone to the orchestra rather than being out front. The vocal samples add a nice touch, but this leads to my only two complaints. The first one (the one that is saying "cross the sky" or something similar) is very pleasant, but it gets repetitive in the area between 3:50 and 4:20. And I would have left the second vocal sample out all together because of its being off the key of the song. A lot of dance music uses off-key elements to add interest, and it often works well, but here it clashes with the complex harmonies in the orchestra. But those are minor complaints. The whole song is a wonderful fresh take on modern classical. This one is definitely going on my playlist. - Spacelab from Huntsville, Alabama on 16Aug2004 Leonard Bernstein in the 23rd century neat... intro, leonard bernstein in the 23rd century... there is a safari/epic/orchestra feel, with the bright vox over the dark wash with tension/intrigue, so I'm thinking this is Bjarne O. again because of that, and if it's not that's who you sound like. Wonderful orchestral presence to all of the patches, the vocal performance and application of effects thereto very effective. Production has beautiful depth, clarity and separation.- utensil from Dickerson, Maryland on 18Aug2004 Stravinsky and Bjork for an original tune What an interesting intro! A Stravinsky-style orchestra plays modern classic chords, soon followed by a catchy drumline, for a very original song that it shows a very mature eared artist! Ethnic percussions, "stravinsky" strings, timpani, cellos... And a Bjork-style voice!!! I think this genre may be considered experimental, but what a good experimental is it this! Matbe the 1st transition between the orchestra and the voice is a bit "rough" when you 1st listens to this song, but the general impression is positive, structure is interesting, and great, alternative female voice. The background choir is amazing, and even if the main vocal line is a bit obsessive (a bit shorter would be perfect), this song has many different styles, a melange of originality that maybe not everybody will appreciate. But i do!!! Good job! - guthorm from Unspecified on 17Aug2004 Run Kitty Run! Wow, this song is very, very original. Almost has an "ET" feel. Even "Wizard Of Ozz" feel. The Female vocal are amazing. Like Bjork. Such an exploding feel throughout this song. Lots of energy in this song. Very good song. - blakelau from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 22Aug2004 What movie is this from Great use of sounds and samples in this. The use of 'orchestra hits' was done well and provides an old 30's movie mystery vibe to it... Reminds me of a girl running scared from an unconvincing monster.... I like the composition the arrangement is very unique. When the female vocals come in it reminds me of bjork a bit- has a great dreamy atmosphere, and great beat section...- aaronhope from Chicago, Illinois on 21Aug2004 I really like the intro orchestra sample This is real experimental music. A nice departure from the REASON composed trance beats thats so prominant in this category. A great backdrop for a movie thriller. You've done an excellent job. I really want to expand my music to areas like this. The samples are arranged masterfully. I want to hear more of your tracks - EminentBliss from Dayton, Ohio on 20Aug2004 Super! Love the modern classical beginning, in fact the whole track is super. Is this music written by you or all samples? Either way, sounds like you should be writing blockbuster movie soundtracks for sure! Is that female voice a sample? - spacegypsy from New York on 16Aug2004 broadway background i can hear a broadway background of the composer. the arrangement is amazing and has a great dramatic and i am sure he submits this song for musicals. well picked bass/chellos, nice drums and good keyboards. - andrei23 from Hollywood, California on 15Aug2004 "Bjarne O. unfolds some very dramatic pictures in his almost symphonic orchestra-like compositions. I clearly see a movie before my eyes when I listen to Bjarne O.'s picturesque sound collages, and we don't find ourselves in the melodramatic department. Bjarne O.'s music is fascinating and deeply moving at the same time." -- Brian Mikkelsen, The Minister of Cultural Affairs in Denmark "It is inspiring to listen to this beautiful music. There is an innovative creativity running throughout the composition: something very unusual! And yet, somehow it comes across as being quite self- evident and simple. Listening to this music results in an inner balance at the same time that it sets into motion something positive. It has so much energy and wealth...I have often wondered why the music of other continents has not obtained a stronger foothold among us up to now. But that which has been created here can truly pave the way to building bridges that promote better understanding of other cultures, and in doing so fill both ears and hearts!" -- Irene Bonnicksen, Author & Painter "What enthusiasm -- what creative delight! When something can sweep you away like this, one is amazed! I was immediately urged on to intense listening. It's simply liberating the fact that new- thinking still exists when it comes to the large symphonic genre. As it's done here, it is an outstanding example of new-thinking -- a kind of re-mix and an upgrade of a classical symphonic genre that can be inspirational to us all. And that is exactly what the most distinguished and most sublime purpose of a new album release should be: to bring new life - new genes -- to the genres. Which is precisely what this saline injection does. I take off my hat and make a low bow - for a great fireworks display of bubbling musical talent." -- Carsten J., Producer Another Great Soundtrack! Yet another dreamy escape into the realm of electronica. This song makes use of beautiful instruments, a creative arrangement to achieve a wonderfully simple yet inspiring instrumental similar to Enya. -- netjunkie9 from N. Richland Hills, Texas 2Aug2004 Magical! Fairy Grotto Intro entices you in...Yes, there are some cosmic & ethereal sounds here...Nicely mixed, with a magical mood there is a pleasant feeling that runs thru the whole track...Very satisfying! -- SCOTT_HILL from London, England, United Kingdom 1Aug2004 Happy Dream Land! This track is outstanding! Inspires me to write. Production are real. Effects and mix is great. Your really good. Love the emotion behind it all. The vocals are arabic sounding. They are wonderful! Nice track. -- blakelau from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 30Jul2004 Heaven Where is your mummy? She's in the clouds with the angels. Well, I am there, too. This song reminds me of a happy place, from the bells, to the washing bright pads, and angelic choir and vocal samples. This song should pretty much make you see the light after you listen to it. Every bit of this track has the stamp of the Elysian fields all over it. - vmc from Dallas, Texas on 27Aug2004 ambiently awesome This songs intro did a pretty good effect on the listener. Its like watching a walt disney film. I love the chordal approach and the melody made a relaxing and sonic ambient effect. Overall, I love this song and I think It has all the essential elements to be a pretty successful film music track. - elivate7 from Alabang, Manila, Philippines on 16Aug2004 Electric orchestra finely tuned Slow, classic music-style intro, for what a progressive electronic opera. The structure is rich and interesting, the instrumentation is impressive. I just love the "Morricone" soundtrack flavours of the percussions, of the tubular bells and of the strings add-ons. Chord and instrumentation use denote a mature ear and a wonderful taste. Somehow reminds me also of Mike Oldfield's best works (choirs are reminding me of some part of "the songs of the distant earth", a very good album), for the sound and for the mood/structure, which is a positive thing, I believe. I said it reminds me of their style, but with lots of original points, I meant to say. Finely tuned orchestra, with a "grand final" I just love, a good orchestration and finely tuned. Wonderful taste. I'm your fan, now! - guthorm from Unspecified on 11Aug2004 fantasic thank you for your music. it take my heart which is exhausted into the land of the fantasy. i played in the world. this song is the world of fairly tale which i dreamed in childfood. the effect and melody and nature of the voice was beautiful really. - Tetsuhiro from Unspecified on 11Aug2004 Ready for The Silver Screen! This song was enchanting....gripping from the beginning to the very end. A definite gem in contemporary world music. The mood is mysterious and adventurous with a sort of northern african flaire. The chorus was especially poignant, coming to a lovely climax...an expert use of vocals...this composer knows how to use music to create a dramatic effect. Production and arrangement is flawless. At times the song is reminiscent of the soundtrack to a steven spielberg blockbuster....I hope the publisher of this music is knocking on all the doors in hollywood...this song should be in film. Well ,well done! -- jberinger2 from San Diego, California 5Aug2004 Classic epic I like the big industrial noises, quite dark from the offset and the vocals seem to back this up very well. The strings with the male vocals make it sound like this is some kind of epic battle, though due to my entirely non existent understanding of eastern languages I'm unable to tell whether this is the case. The arrangement is fantastic, very powerful build ups and very haunting vocals layered to perfection with great percussion work. The melodies are great, simple but very effective. The strings carry everything off brilliantly. The mood is very good, very epic. This is pure class all the way. A definate 5/5 - Gusbo from Glasgow, Hysteria, United Kingdom on 11Aug2004 Has great potenial to be in a movie! This is a very engaging track. I think you could write film scores/soundtracks. When I close my eyes and veg out to this track, I picture this song playing during the opening credits of a huge summer blockbuster. No fake! This is a great/sweeping arrangement. Keep on rockin in the "free world." Peace n Luv. -- eyesrevolution@yahoo.com - eyesrevolution from Spring Grove, Illinois 5Aug2004 Exotic chill-out at its best! Zero 7, Air and Tosca come in mind when you hear how the arrangement is laid down, but this tune has something more to offer. -- Tripnotic_MK from Unspecified 31Jul2004 Unique! More traditional sounding, but unique...This is very sophisticated stuff that isn`t overdone...more traditional, and less of the distorted sampling that you here in this genre...which makes it stand out. -- epenington from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 31Jul2004 Excellent! ...This track could very well be from the hands of Bill Laswell circa Hashisheen... -- kvaternion from Fredericia, No State, Denmark 29Jul2004 Market at Mecca Interesting LOW end drum on the entro. Nice string crescendos. This artist knows what he is doing and how to do it. Great production, great technical execution. VERY INTERESTING PIECE. The best I've heard on GB to date. WELL DONE. - VonBach from Springdale, Arkansas on 25Aug2004 Cinema/World Bollywood, Excellent! This a unique texture of Eastern Indian influenced world music. It has a definite Bollywood feel, but more orchestral, I really enjoyed the amazing production values, Timpani rolls sounded completely and utterly real.. the electronic rhythm (808 drums) is a nice beat bed to lay the music over, gives it a quite modern cinematic feel. The use of orchestral string washes are delicate and again, sound true! This is top quality cinema/world music. Definitely worth your time. Great Work! - YeshaBluestein from Bethany, Oklahoma on 18Aug2004 Great Orchestration, Soundtrack Music Erie mood is effective. I think they could have been really brought to life by stronger pads on keys. The dark pads that start to swell in at :40 are really nice. At 1:00 the lower-frequency rolling sound - whatever it is - really pops out and I love it! I really think this makes great soundtrack music - very intensely moody, layering of male vocal against group vocals is very nicely arranged. Strings are great, little bell elements and percussion builds after 2:00 do a nice job of bringing this to a climax. -rigsimusic from Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania on 17Aug2004 Electronic Stravinsky When you listen to this song, you know immediately you're not listening to a common artist. This is an electronic orhcestra finely tuned and played, with a piece who reminds me of the best classic productions, with a good arrangement and a perfect orchestration. Deep and interesting as Stravinsky in the "Sagre de printemps", this is an amazing artist, indeed. I'll liosten to more, this for sure. - guthorm from Unspecified on 21Aug2004 Elfman Sci Fi This sounds like you used synclavier tones that were commonplace in the 1980s.. this isn't such a bad thing because you do it quite well..there also seems to be a tad bit of a Danny Elfman influence in there. No doubt, you have talent and definitely should be scoring movie soundtracks. The arrangement and mix are top notch. The sequences are very well thoughtout. I am impressed to say the least! Superb work. - YeshaBluestein from Bethany, Oklahoma on 27Aug2004 Something New This track starts with a rather grandiose intro, feauturing big drums, pianos, brass, and other orchestral immitation sounds. It appears to have more of a classical progression and doesn't follow the overused regular song structures. This has more of a soundtrack feel to it. It is almost as if it is divided into segments, each trying to create its own picture. Certainly a good attempt at something else! - djsiren from Soton, Hants, United Kingdom on 25Aug2004 Zany - Classical - Electronica Wow, crazy classical electronica thats perfect for a film score. Arrangement is pretty good with most of the instruments sounding like the real thing, only one or two sound a bit cheesy synth ( like the trumpet ), but there's a whole orchestra here and once they are all playing ( 2:50 ) it sounds excellent. Song structure is excellent, but you would expect that from someone attempting this kind of music. This has an excellent flow and takes the listener on a musical journey through space. Production is great with clear sounds and good mixing, some more panning would have been nice and added that "sitting there" feel to the whole track. I really feel a little out of my depth here :) but i thought it was a great track and would be perfect for a camp, space-spy movie! The Good:- Excellent arrangement and a very well written score The Bad:- Its classical, so not everyones going to like it ... The Verdict:- Totally unexpected and very enjoyable. - 8_bit_boy from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 24Aug2004 Frodo, Lancelot, Willy Wonka, and that weird .. Sounds like a song that came from a movie... except a collection of movies. I hear Lord of the Rings, slow strings... horns from King Arthur... bells from the Exorcist, banging drums from Aladdin and wonky FX from every disney movie. They combine in a way very original... and I think it works, especially when the rythmic drums kick in. I have no idea why this is in the electronic music section. But im glad I heard it. - Reykthos from Oyster Bay, New York on 22Aug2004 This is fun,..and original! The beatles meet electronic yahoo! I love the sound you have going here it is shure brilliance! I think we have something here! 2 thumbs up! -- DjDMM from Mount Vernon, Washington 23Jul2004 Top notch! I like the originality of the arrangement...I think the actual arrangement of the music and the melody is top notch. Very original & enjoyable. -- John_Paul_Sharp from Denver, Colorado 22Jul2004 Very pet shop boys...love the campness of this track... -- arfur from Dunfermline, Fife, United Kingdom 25Jul2004 Hi there Bjarne Martin Russell from Afro Celt Sound System here I visited the Real World Remixed site earlier today and came across your remix of "My Secret Bliss" . Thank you for taking the time and trouble to put it together. I listened several times, loving where you took it harmonically. I also found your post on the forum there and found your own site's address - so here I am! Just wanted to let you know how impressed I am by your music, your website...and everything I've found here. You have created an amazing and inspiring palette of sounds and what looks like a huge body of superb music. I wish I had more time to listen today, but wanted to say hi and thankyou for an hours' worth of wonderfully pleasant distraction! I'll be back soon...Very best wishes meanwhile Thank you again, Martin "...If only others could stretch themselves to this degree we would really see a renaissance in music composition. Excellent work." -David Conley, Australia “You’ve got a very unique approach that stands out.” - Tom Ziegler, Starbucks "I'm convinced his rare and remarkable compositional vision is an exceptional gift of pure genius." - Scott Hill, Astranova/Ambient Worlds C'est génial. Je n'ai jamais entendu une musique aussi complète. Une révélation. Wonderfull." Alain, France “The New Genre referred to by Danish Composer Bjarne O. is Virtual Orchestra Music, something made possible by the existence of high-quality orchestral sample libraries today. Not to suggest that this style of music has never been done before. Some of Bjarne O.’s pieces are reminiscent of the early Synergy albums, though of course Larry Fast had to do it the hard way, with primitive analog synths. Bjarne O. lists his influences as progressive rock (ELP, Peter Gabriel, Yes, Genesis), contemporary classical (Aaron Copland), film music and world music. His music is indeed often cinematic and huge, not really classical but rather rock and contemporary instrumental music using an orchestral palette. And his music extends well beyond orchestra simulations into other areas of energetic electronic music and new age. Face On has a world music flavor, as here Bjarne O. also uses samples of a variety of Chinese, Indian, and other ethnic instruments, percussion, and voices. Bjarne O.’s compositional and arranging skills are exceptional. Yes (2006) is Brilliant, as Bjarne O. has Perfected his Virtual Orchestra, and on this album he sometimes adds reharmonized vocals a la Deep Forest. With some pipe organ recalling Rick Wakeman, maybe the titl
