Song of Love
Charlie and the Rays, a folk-rhythm and blues quintet based in Seattle, WA, releases their new EP, featuring the three founding members of the band, sisters Jordan and Rebecca Stobbe, and Gracia Bridges. Here they create an acoustic, vintage record produced and mastered by Kevin Salem in Woodstock, NY. Highlighted single, Song Of Love, was composed in light of the current social and political environment in the United States. Recorded with the three band members encircling one mic, they create a true, genuine, oldies feel for the song. The band accompanies their single with a short and sweet track, Walk On Home, with a nostalgic, beautiful melody built around intertwining harmonies. The EP highlights their three-part female harmonies and vocals, acoustic guitar, and sparks of harmonica. Charlie and the Rays' past releases have elicited reviews from notable journalists and music blogs. Alexa Teodoro from the Seattle Weekly writes, “The band’s music is as down-to-earth as its members, channeling the likes of the Beatles and Elvis Costello to create an oldies vibe with a new-school twist.” The Seattle-based blog, do206 has mentioned the band, stating, "[We] quickly fell in love with their harmonies and lo-fi sound. [This is a] damn good one.” They have received attention from multiple other blogs and newspapers such as these, their new release Song Of Love gained a premiere debut in the popular blog, Northwest Music Scene. The band has gained popularity in Seattle's up-and-coming music scene, and has played a multitude of venues in the city. They expect to have many performances in the coming months, and will begin work on recording their first full-length album this coming summer.
