Reminisce Cafe
The venerable and early rock n roll legend Gene Summers celebrates his 50th anniversary in music recording (starting in Feb. 1958!) with this new CD of sixteen songs in the early rock n roll style, and with a few edging over into the rockabilly style! The title song, "Reminisce Cafe" is chart bound and is already being played by a number of vintage music radio stations. For some listeners, the punch-line in the song prompts tears of remembrance. The album was produced by 3-Grammy recording engineer and producer Phil York, and CD notes were written by legendary disc jockey and celebrity radio personality, Ron Chapman. There are twelve relevant photos plus the great, vintage cover photo of Gene and his high school sweetheart and wife, Dea, with Gene holding what looks to be his last dollar bill! The songs in this wonderful celebration collection are: 1. Reminisce Cafe 2. She Bops A Lot 3. Just Together 4. Rockin' Fever 5. Crazy Cat Corner 6. I Won't Take Any Less 7. (It's Love Baby) 24 Hours A Day 8. Do a Little Roll 9. Heartbreak City Limits 10. Love Me Tender (if anybody can top Elvis' version, it's Gene Summers) 11. Gonna Drive 'em Up a Wall 12. So 13. Be-Bop City 14. Hot Rod Baby 15. I'm Flyin' In 16. Little LuAnn This CD is SCD-110 on the Seduction Records ("What Seduces YOU?") label. Included in the CD booklet are full-page reprints of two of Gene's biggest hits, (the now cult-status) "School of Rock & Roll" on Jan label (1958) and "Big Blue Diamonds" on the Jamie record label (1963). These recordings are available on other CD releases. To Gene Summers' credit, he is still doing live shows regionally and is revered in Europe right up there with Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent and... yes, Elvis! He tours European countries and headlines early rock n roll shows around the globe each year. The crowds go wild at what is still an electrifying show! This is a fun CD full of joy and great music for any early rock n roll or rockabilly music fan and collector! And it was recorded in ANALOG! Enjoy!
