Versatility

This album never gets boring. Style and sound changes make each track fresh and fun. Professional musicians John Logan, Skip Green, and I have been fortunate to be booked together in a variety of combinations. On most of the jobs, someone would say, “you should have recorded that!" Hearing that so many times, plus having some gentle persuasion from my daughter, Debbie, I decided it was time to book some studio time and start an album. The versatility of the professional jobbing musician is amazing. No matter what the job demands, they do it. Although commonly called “jazz musicians”, I prefer Joe Vito’s description, “a musician who plays jazz”--because these artist range far in both jazz and most other musical genres. Thus, this album show-cases a group of great musicians in a variety of styles. Although this is only a small sample of what "jobbers" must play to make a living, the flexibility and skill required to go from instrument to instrument and from style to style is readily apparent. The album is dedicated to my family, Carolyn, Rick, Debbie, Andie, Chris, Emily, Julie, and Conner. They have endured my noisy practice, strange hours, and all the negatives of the business, to let me enjoy my career. I thank all of you. It is also a tribute to those wonderful professional musicians I have been lucky to work with and call friends. They are some of the most interesting and talented people on earth.
