Going Down
Henrik Villard's local scene success has rather burgeoned in recent years, with his name now making a mark on the international stage. His music has come on labels like Beatservice and Mhost Likely and blends classic and golden-age sounds with new school production techniques, lo-fi samples and groovy bass that carries listeners to the stars. Opener 'Birdcall' does just that with its pulsing synth lines spraying about over surging house drums that are sure to lift the dance floor off its feet. Rich pads flesh out the details and make this one as emotive as it is dynamic. 'Redlight' is more loose and playful as the synths dance about with real soul and the prickly drums undulate to perfection. It's a perfect fusion of astral colour and human warmth that brings the dance floor together. 'Going Down' brings plenty of psychedelic colour as sublime synth sequences rain down over the crisp, broken drum patterns. It's got a future disco feel that is impossible not to love and rounds out another timeless EP. Villard once again combines genuine musicality with a real understanding of dance floor grooves on this fresh new EP.
