Remixes 1997-2000
Product Description Amazon.co.uk Review There are very few dance acts who could fill two CDs and five slabs of vinyl with quality remixes of other people's work. Deep breakbeat specialists Jazzanova are one such act. Since their formation in 1996, the Berlin-based six-piece have been behind some of leftfield dance music's most mesmerising mixes. While their own work has been sporadic to say the least (they've released just two EPs in four years), Jazzanova have always found time to re-interpret other people's work. Jazzanova Remixes 1997-2000 is an almost faultless account of their remix career so far. It features 20 near-perfect nu-jazz and deep breakbeat reinterpretations of tracks by artists as diverse as MJ Cole, Ian Pooley and the Soul Bossa Trio. The quality of Jazzanova Remixes is such that it's difficult to pick out one or two outstanding tracks, though the Incognito and Ursula Rucker remixes particularly impress. --Matt Anniss
