The Cathedral Singers
The Cathedral Singers is Christ Church Cathedral's (Oxford, UK) voluntary choir but, unusually in the UK, sings daily services when the main Cathedral Choir is not in residence. This amounts to approximately 100-120 services throughout the year. The choir is drawn from a pool of adult members who live and work in and around Oxford and the surrounding area, and is conducted by John Padley. When in residence, the choir meets to rehearse at 5.00pm for a service (usually evensong) at 6.00pm, or at 10.15am for an 11.15am Sunday morning Eucharist. Cathedral Singers We are amateur musicians from all walks of life, who maintain an excellent musical standard, with repertoire extending from early Renaissance polyphony to twenty-first century composers. We also perform other services and concerts in Oxford and beyond, with recent engagements including evensongs across the country, a week in Puglia, Italy and weekend tours to Paris and Brussels. The choir is always pleased to welcome new singers, in all voice parts.
