Black Box Revelation
THE BLACK BOX REVELATION are a totally “fresh” rock-sensation indeed, but duo Jan (songs, guitars & voice) & Dries (drums) are “old souls” too, with roots in the blues and the sixties. The two friends from Brussels started playing together as “The Mighty Generators” when they were only 12 and 14 years old, kicked out their bass player, became The Black Box Revelation and soon arrived second in Belgium’s influential “Rock Rally” contest in 2006. The EP “Introducing the Black Box Revelation”, released in the spring of 2007 and supported by a mean & funny videoclip for “Kill For Peace (And Peace Will Die)”, resulted in lots of small club-gigs with the band continuously getting tougher and better, which climaxed in invitations for the big open-air festivals of Dour and Pukkelpop during the summer of 2007. Jan & Dries then started recording their debut-album “Set Your Head On Fire”, produced by Triggerfinger drummer Mario Goossens, mixed in LA by Greg Gordon (Wolfmother, Jet, Soulwax) and mastered in NYC by Fred Kevorkian (Iggy Pop, U2, White Stripes). The press unanimously loved the album, with the single “I Think I Like You” rapidly climbing to the top of the radio-charts. On stage The Black Box Revelation is a runaway train, combining the best ingredients of idols like Led Zeppelin, The Datsuns, The Rolling Stones, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Stooges.
