Caramel Carmela
Emerging from obscurity in early 2009, electronic/metal quintet Caramel Carmela has quickly made a name for themselves as one of Denver's rising bands on the scene. Proving to be a powerhouse in the Colorado music industry, Caramel Carmela was chosen out of dozens of bands to play the 2011 Global Dance Festival at Red Rocks. In 2010, they were selected to play the Vans Warped Tour, where they quickly won over legions of fans from all over the state and were described by Colorado Music Buzz as "wild and super unconventional." The November, 2010 release of their debut album, "Ominous Walrus," showcased Caramel Carmela's musical versatility with catchy choruses and unpredictable metal breakdowns. Produced by Danny Cooper (Drop Dead, Gorgeous) and James Egbert of Basemint Sound (Kill Paradise, Blood On The Dance Floor), the album displays heavy, riff-driven tracks such as "The Man Downstairs," sing-along, pop/rock bangers like "Capax Infiniti," and electronic dance songs with a metal twist as heard on "Dear Em, I.L.Y." In 2011, Caramel Carmela released "Optimus Walrus," a remix album with songs produced by Denver DJs Bryce Demise, The Culture Rock, and Paris Burns and James Egbert. The year has proven to be a whirlwind for the band, as they have performed at numerous venues in Colorado and are in the planning stages for a multi-city tour. A Brazilian fan club has also popped up for those who need their Caramel Carmela fix in South America. Band members Jack Roberts (vocals), Sha Gipson (bass), Joe Meggison (guitar) and Lance Esparza (drums) have formed a unique sound that takes all your preexisting notions of party music and throws it out the window. Be on the lookout for Caramel Carmela as they work their way in to your ears and hearts.
