We Were Lovers
We Were Lovers (WWL) dancey beats, swirling atmospheric guitars, and dynamic synths convey a wide array of moods and themes, as strong female vocals wrap stories of love and loss around catchy melodies. With comparisons such as '... Stevie Nicks-meets-The Cure pop' by The Austinist.com, Ash Lamothe and Elsa Gebremichael have mastered a pop balance infusing electro, dreamy, rock and disco elements. Known for their high-energy live show, this duos undeniable connection radiates from the stage. No stranger to the road, WWL has spent many months on tour across Canada and much of the U.S. with travels to NYC, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles where they showcased at the legendary Viper Room. They’ve opened for Metric, Tegan and Sara, Janelle Monae, Mother Mother, Young Galaxy, Handsome Furs, Diamond Rings, Awol Nation, and the New York Dolls, and have showcased at various festivals such as CMW, NXNE, SXSW and the Sasktel Jazz Festival. After recording their last s/t EP in NYC with Engineer / Producer Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV On The Radio, Beach House, Grizzly Bear, etc), WWL have refined their sound and have released a new full length album, 'Pyramids', which was nominated for a 2014 Western Canadian Music Award for 'Pop Recording of the Year'. The album has already garnered attention with the music video for their single 'Islands' currently at over 27,000 views, and second single 'Jealous Lovers' having aired on MTV's show Awkward. We Were Lovers is currently working on their next album projected to be released Spring 2015. Stay close, the future is bright for this young duo.
