Roman Andrén
Born in Norrköping, Sweden 1976. I have been surrounded by music all my life, dad plays the trumpet and there are musicians on both sides of the family. In 1997 I moved to Uppsala for studies. There I first started studying Science of music at the university, but then moved on to just working as a musician (pianist/singer) and DJ. In 2007 I moved to Malmö were I currently live. Both as a DJ and as a musician I play retro soul/funk/jazz/latin, mainly from the seventies or own material. In 2004 I released my first full-length album "Ambessa's Dream" (Blue Beat Productions). Included was among many guitarist Chuck Anthony (Roy Ayers, Fela Kuti) and percussionist Rafael Sida. In September 2007 I released my second album, "Juanita" on record lable Ajabu! in malmö. It is also released under P-Vine (Japan). The album features among others legendary Vibe-player Lars Erstrand and musicians from the Uppsala/Stockholm area. Also appearing on the album is wahwah-master guitarist Emmett North Jr (Barry White, Isaac Hayes among others) 2008 in August I released my third album "Juanita & Beyond - Live studio sessions" (Ajabu!/P-Vine japan) Containing musicians from Malmö-area, guested by Miriam Aida & Fredrik Kronkvist. I have two big projects coming up in 2010, "Solar Ride" wich is a full-length album aiming for early 80's funk/disco/soul and a third album on ajabu!, "Color Green". In August 2009 Roman Andrén Band performed at Cotton Club, Tokyo. Color Green is released in early Feb 2010. I have worked with among others SPÅNKA NKPG, Gladys and Consuelo Del Pilar, Beatfanatic, Chuck Anthony, Johan Christher Schutz, Ingela Jansson, Gibril Jobe, Tree Full of People, Sasa Ling and many others. I also write music for different companies, commercials etc, IKEA, Wonder Media, Effektfabriken, to mention a few. Moreover, I have been involved (both as an actor and writing music) in several movie projects together with director Sebastian Lindblad (www.lavette-film.se). Latest on a short film called Vitriol and the score for "Tunna Väggar". In 2010 I will write the score for another of director Sebastian Lindblad & Rodrigo Obon's films, yet untitled.
