Siri Svegler
Siri Svegler is a true kid of the Eighties, at least on her birth certificate. But it’s an influence that luckily wasn´t reflected in her music which is just timeless and elegant. Since her childhood the young Swede prances through the world with open ears and a vision for the beauty. Just grown out of her diapers, she took dance lessons from an early age, and later acting classes and so left her home for London in 2000, to start her studies at the Arts Educational Schols. From there it was just a tiny step to a guest part in Wolfgang Petersen´s historical epic “Troy“ (2004) – along with Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom or Peter O'Toole. But Siri returned to the music and started a close collaboration with high-class jazz pianist, conductor and arranger Christian Vaughan. Quite overwhelmed with her voice, Vaughan commissioned the leading musicians from London´s jazz scene and put together a new band to provide her talent the right framework. And another, completetely different project, was the indie rockband Guido Sol, where Siri was the leadsinger for over a year. After a few years in London, with lot’s of different musical influences, Siri felt it was time to breathe some new air, while the urge to focus on her own songwriting and make her own music grew stronger. lA clever move, which was followed by the next one soon, namely Siri´s move to Berlin (2007). In the music metropole she soon got to know the producer Frank Schellenberger and started working on an album containing many of the songs that she had been writing during her period in London, as well as coming up with new material in Berlin. They went for the Indie-label “Compost“ – Records, which gave Siri the opportunity to freely express her creativity and develop her first solo album, without pressure and stress.. Siri Svegler creates and presents her music with such an easiness and amusement. Perhaps, that is the secret that turns her into an insider tip of the line. The result of the pretty productive collaboration is named „Silent Viewer“ and the first single from it - “Their Wine“ – will keep the promise of the album, which will be released by summer 2009. She gets support from the VW – Soundfoundation & SEAL, which chose her for the winner of the sponsorship award in the category Pop. A little jewel, unique like the singer herself. Siri Svegler presents her songs live with band (Siri Svegler- vocals, (acoustic) guitar / Frank Schellenberger- keyboards / Patrick Frankowski- bass / Stefan Machalitzky- guitar / Guiseppe „Bigfinga“ Coloppa- drums).
